Half of drivers don’t know the Highway Code

NEARLY half of all qualified drivers do not know the Highway Code well enough to pass their theory test, according to new research.
More than 4,500 students aged between 15 and 19-years-old were given a road-safety pack with information and advice to help them become the safer drivers of the future by Calder-dale Council and the Highways Agency.

As part of the programme, students were asked to quiz other drivers with questions from the Highway Code.

Only five out of every 10 qualified drivers answered the questions correctly and would probably fail the same theory tests their children have to take before they can take their practical test.
